IPOH: Deputy public prosecutor Anthony Kevin Morais (pic), who was murdered on Sept 16, will be posthumously awarded the Darjah Dato Paduka Mahkota Perak (DPMP), which carries the title Datuk.
Morais is among six notable public figures who will be posthumously awarded during the investiture ceremony at Istana Iskandariah, Kuala Kangsar today in conjunction with Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shahâ€™s 59th birthday celebrations.
Umno founding president Datuk Onn Jaafar will be conferred the Darjah Seri Paduka Cura Si Manja Kini (SPCM), which carries the title Datuk Seri. His grandson, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, is expected to accept the award on behalf of the statesman.
Former Perak mentri besar Datuk Panglima Bukit Gantang Abdul Wahab Abdul Aziz will also be conferred the SPCM, while former nationalist leader and PAS president Dr Burhanuddin Al-Helmy and former educationist Aminuddin Baki will be conferred the Darjah Seri Paduka Mahkota Perak (SPMP), which also carries the Datuk Seri title.
Former Perak police chief and Sarawak Deputy Commissioner Tan Sri Khoo Chong Kong, who died at the hands of communists, will be conferred the Darjah Seri Panglima Taming Sari (SPTS), which carries the title Datuk Seri Panglima.
The investiture ceremony will be the first time posthumous awards were conferred, said Perak State Secretary Datuk Seri Abdul Puhat Mat Nayan.
Abdul Puhat said there were no applications for the posthumous awards as the Ruler had on his own accord chosen to honour them.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will be heading the honours list of 703 recipients.
He will be the sole recipient of the Darjah Kebesaran Seri Paduka Nazrin Shah (SPSN), which carries the title Datuk Seri Diraja.
Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Hamzah Zainudin will be bestowed the Darjah Seri Paduka Mahkota Perak (SPMP), which carries the title Datuk Seri.
Army Chief Jen Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor will receive the Darjah Seri Panglima Taming Sari (SPTS) award, which carries the title Datuk Seri Panglima.
Star Media Group Ipoh bureau chief Ivan Loh Hao Wen will be conferred the Darjah Ahli Mahkota Perak (AMP) and Sin Chew Daily Perak journalist Foong Ching Mean will receive the Pingat Pekerti Terpilih (PPT).
