KUALA LUMPUR – National champion, Mohd Nafiizwan Adnan got off to a flying start when he advanced to the second round of the 2016 Men’s World Squash Championship held in Cairo, Egypt today.
The Manchester-based player however, was forced to the limit before edging his opponent, Alan Clyne of Scotland; winning with 9-11, 12-10, 12-10, 12-10 in the first round match held at Wadi Degla Club, according to the tournament website;www.wadideglaworldsquashchamps.com.
Mohd Nafiizwan will face a herculean task against the third seed, Omar Mosaad of Egypt in the second round on Friday.
The host player moved to the second round after scoring a 11-6, 11-6 and 11-5 win against Shawn Delierre of Canada in another first round match.
World junior champion, Ng Eain Yow who came through from the qualifying round, however, failed to continue his scintillating performance after losing 9-11,9-11 and 7-11 to Mohamed Redha of Egypt in the first match which lasted about half an hour. – BERNAMA
