The foreigners who were catching squid were nabbed in two operations about 14 nautical miles off the Nenasi beach in Rompin.

MOF Region Three commander ACP Zulkafli Sariaat said the suspects comprised two skippers and 16 crew members aged between 25 and 55.

“They were picked up between noon and 12.30pm. We have also seized their catch and two boats which are estimated to be worth about RM800,000,” he said in a statement here today.
