KUALA LUMPUR – The Ministry of Finance denied that the Housing Loan Division (BPP) will be abolished.
In a statement yesterday, Ministry Secretary-General, Tan Sri Dr Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah, said the government planned to turn BPP into a statutory body and maintain the existing benefits enjoyed by the civil servants.
“Currently, BPP and the consultants appointed for the incorporation are preparing a Bill to set up the statutory body and new retirement scheme for the civil servants,” he said.
Civil servants who joined the scheme would enjoy the various benefits of agencies which had been turned into statutory bodies, he said.
He said among the benefits would be higher salaries and those which they did not enjoyed now.
“The government gives this assurance that the management of the housing loan under the statutory body would not result in losses to civil servants,” said Mohd Irwan. – Bernama
