KUALA LUMPUR – A moderate earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale hit Banda Sea, Indonesia at 6.05am, today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department, in a statement, said that the quake’s epicentre was 385km southeast of Ambon, Indonesia and 1,786km southeast of Semporna, Sabah.
However, the earthquake did not pose a tsunami threat, it said.
The Meteorological Department is monitoring the development and will update any latest development. – BERNAMA
