KUALA LUMPUR – The air quality in most areas in the country is moderate as on 9 am Friday.
According to the Department of Environment’s (DOE) website, 37 areas recorded moderate Air Pollutant Index (API) readings and the API reading of 11 other areas was good.
The moderate API reading was recorded, among others, in Batu Muda (64) and Cheras (56), both in Kuala Lumpur, and in Putrajaya (60).
The areas with moderate API in Selangor included Banting (65), Kuala Selangor (73), Port Klang (83), Petaling Jaya (61) and Shah Alam (71).
Moderate API readings were also recorded in most areas in Johor, Kedah, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Penang, Terengganu, Sabah and Sarawak.
An API reading of between 0 and 50 is good; 51 and 100 (moderate); 101 and 200 (unhealthy); 201 and 300 (very unhealthy); and more than 301 (hazardous).
