CYBERJAYA: Universiti Multimedia Malaysia (MMU) won 10Â of the 13 accompanying awards in the 11th Malaysian Student Film festival
(FFP11) which was held here last night.
The animated film ‘Simfoni’ produced by the students from MMU was crownedÂ the Special Jury Award for Metamorphosis Innovation while another animated film,
‘White Collar Time,’ also also won the Jury Special Award for Best CharacterÂ Animation.
Both winners took home a trophy and cash RM1,000 which was handed over byÂ Malaysian National Film Development Corporation (Finas) director-general KamilÂ Othman and FFP11 director Azhar Ahmad during a dinner and FFP11 AccompanyingÂ Award at MMU, here.
â€œSimfoniâ€ also won the Best Screenplay and Best Musical Score whileÂ â€œWhite-Collar Timeâ€ also won the Beast Script and Best Sound Effect.
During the ceremony, MMU also won Best Special Effect and Best Graphic viaÂ the short film, â€œPerceptionâ€, “The Man Who Drowned His Sorrows”Â (Best Cinematography), “The Running Men” (Best Editing).
The National Arts Culture and Heritage Academy (ASWARA) won Best Costume viaÂ the short film “Curiâ€ while Sentral College Penang won the highest votes for theÂ film “Selfie” and highest votes for the animation, “Hijau”.
The FFP11 Award Night would be held at 9pm on Saturday at Dewan Tun CanselorÂ MMU here and entrance is free.
Nine awards including for Best Short Film Category, Best Documentary, BestÂ Music Video, Best Animation, Best Advertisement, Best Experimental Film, BestÂ Director and Overall Best Film would be announced.
A total 10 Best Videos from each category had been picked via a multi-levelÂ jury process.
MMU is host this year and had created history by holding the competitionÂ online. A total 379 entries were received from 40 higher institutions ofÂ learning nationwide.
The annual event organised by Finas is aimed at unearthing new talents amongÂ students in the national films field.–BERNAMA
