KUALA LUMPUR – The case of a prisoner stabbed to death by two inmates in a fight involving two groups at the Sungai Buloh Prison last Saturday, was linked to a misunderstanding.
Selangor CID chief Datuk Mohd Adnan Abdullah said the clash occurred after the groups mocked each other.
He said the victim was in his early 20s while the suspects comprised six to seven inmates.
He said this at a press conference after witnessing a ceremony involving the handing-over of duties of the Sungai Buloh police chief at the district police headquarters yesterday.
Earlier, Sungai Buloh police chief Supt Mohd Rozi Jidin handed over the baton of office to his successor, Supt Dr Abdul Aziz Awang Darus.
Abdul Aziz, 53, who hails from Teluk Intan, Perak has been with the Royal Malaysian Police since 1981. He was previously the Ampang CID chief. — Bernama
