LANGKAWI – A teenager who was reported missing while swimming at Pantai Cenang, yesterday, became the eighth drowned victim on the popular tourist island this year, after his body was found, today.
The victim, Max Ng Yik Hang, was found on the beach around 7.25am, said the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency Northern Region Director, First Admiral (Maritime) Tan Kok Kwee.
He said the 18-year-old victim, from Selangor, was believed to have been dragged out by the strong current, while swimming with his two friends near the beach around 3.40pm yesterday.
He said the victim’s body had been sent to the Langkawi Hospital for a post-mortem. — Bernama
