Miss Tourism International Takes KL City By Storm

It was a cold, rainy day in Kuala Lumpur, but a group of 58 stunning beauties set the city on fire with their presence in Malaysia’s landmark, the Petronas Twin Towers.

Decked in their finery and sky-high heels, the svelte pageant queens stole the spotlight as they made their appearance on the world’s fifth tallest building during a meet and greet session.





Malaysian representative, Ranjani Rajamanickam,24, said the pageant helped to broaden her knowledge on the country’s hidden tourism treasures, as well as being the face to put Malaysia on the map as one of the world’s most coveted tourist destinations.

“The competition allowed me to learn more about the world, through the friendship shared among other contestants. Since entering the pageant, I have gained exposure on other, unfamiliar cultures.”

“I will try my best to make my country proud,” she said in an interview in Chinoz On The Park,KLCC.

Meanwhile, Miss Philippines, Glennifer Perido,25, said although her country has won the competition for two consecutive years, she still keeps her fingers crossed that she could bring home the crown for the Philippines for the third time.

“Of course, I am hoping to win but if luck is not on my side this time around, I would still be happy for my friends who had won the title.”

A clear favourite throughout the whole competition, Perido waxed lyrical on Malaysia’s lush greenery and tourist attractions such as Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Langkawi.”

Mynewshub also caught up with Miss Australia and Miss Thailand, who are both mesmerized by the country’s natural splendour and the mild manners of its people.

The homegrown title initiated by Tan Sri Datuk Danny Ooi is franchised to more than 80 countries worldwide with more than 500 delegates having taken part.

Ooi said that the MTI is not seen as a beauty pageant but more of a friendship event.

With the theme “Bringing the World to Malaysia”, the MTI World Final will see 63 countries taking part in the event, making it the largest participation since the inaugural MTI World Final held in Kuching.

The Putrajaya International Convention Centre has been selected as the World Final venue on Dec 31 as a New Year’s Eve programme and Putrajaya Marriott Hotel has been designated as the official residence for delegates.

The MTI will also be used as a platform to promote Malaysia’s 2015 Year of Festival.MYNEWSHUB
