MIRI – Police have busted a drug-trafficking syndicate, seizing approximately RM2mil worth of drugs in two raids on a house and a store here.
Speaking about the raids, Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Seri Amer Awal said at a press conference on Thursday that a man in his 20s was arrested.
“This is the biggest seizure so far this year in Sarawak. The drugs were concealed in packages with fake food and beverage labels and the police uncovered this case due to tip-offs from the public,” he said.
Comm Amer added that the Miri anti-narcotics and criminal investigation teams probed the leads for a month before carrying out the raids and the arrest.
He said that the group is believed to have foreign ties, and added that the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act for drug trafficking. – The Star Online
