MELAKA — A military police sergeant was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here today with committing robbery and murder.
However, no plea was recorded from Darmadi Sulaiman, 35, who was charged with murdering Rahman Pileh, 60, at a house, N0.24, Jalan Perkasa, Taman Bukit Terendak, Melaka, between 7.40 pm and 8.10 pm last July 14.
The charge, under Section 302 of the Penal Code, provides the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
Darmadi, who was unrepresented, was also charged under Section 394 of the Penal Code with robbing Sabturiah Lakidau, 59, causing the woman to be hurt, at the same place and time.
He faced an imprisonment for up to 20 years, or fine, or whipping, if found guilty.
The prosecution, conducted by deputy public prosecutor Muhammad Azri Zakaria, did not offer bail.
