IPOH – A military personnel was among three killed while two others injured in a collision involving two vehicles at Km 69 Jalan Ipoh-Gerik in Kampung Chuar Kati near Kuala Kangsar here, early Wednesday.
Kuala Kangsar district police chief, ACP Ghuzlan Salleh said in the 1.10 am incident, a Proton Satria vehicle caught fire and its driver, Safani Hassan, 28, a personnel at Fourth Battalion, Sempadan Regiment in Gerik Camp was killed when he was burnt to death.
“The driver of the Mercedes vehicle Mohd Aminnuddin Mohd Hashim, 57, from Kampung Chepor in Lenggong and his front passenger Hanita Ariffin, 46, from Kampung Sri Wangi Simpang Lawin near Kuala Kangsar died at the scene of the accident.
“Two other passengers at the back of the Mercedes, Razali Yaakub from Kampung Chepor, Lenggong and another woman, who has yet to be identified, sustained serious injuries,” Ghuzlan said when contacted.
He said the accident occurred when the Satria, which was travelling from Kuala Kangsar to Lenggong, failed to overtake other vehicles and collided with the Mercedes from the opposite direction.
The police officer said the two surviving passengers were sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun hospital for further treatment while the bodies of the three victims sent to the Kuala Kangsar hospital for post-mortem.
“Police have contacted the families of the victims and the Gerik camp regarding the incident,” he said. – BERNAMA
