KUALA LUMPUR – Close cooperation between the officers and members of the Armed Forces of Malaysia (ATM) and their foreign counterparts is crucial for national peace and security.
ATM chief Gen Tan Sri Dr Zulkifeli Mohd Zin said this was because outside threats were unexpected and were present in numerous forms to threaten national peace.
He said the close cooperation would allow the sharing of information concerning threats to enable the ATM to make preparations to face such threats.
“The ATM must maintain ties with other security forces, especially in the current situation, with the availability of technology. Military officers in Malaysia, specifically must foster ties with their counterparts abroad,” he added.
Zulkifeli was speaking to reporters after opening a ceremony to hand over diplomas for a course at Wisma Perwira here today.
Also present were Army Chief Gen Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor and Defence Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Abdul Rahim Mohamed Radzi.- BERNAMA
