Men’s Junior Asia Cup: Malaysia Give China Mauling

KUANTAN – Defending champions Malaysia whitewashed China 4-0 in their Group A opening match in the 8th Men’s Junior Asia Cup 2015 hockey championship at the Kuantan Hockey Stadium here today.

The squad coached by Arul Selvaraj began aggressively in the first half and Najmi Jazlan contributed Malaysia first goal in the 14th minute througha penalty corner before Shahril Saabah netted the second in the 21st minute.

In the 43rd minute, Malaysia went another goal up after Haziq Samsul scored through a field goal before Najmi scored his second through another penalty corner in the 70th minute.

Arul said he was satisfied with his team’s performance and expected the spirit would continue in the next match.

“More game control was shown in this match. This is in line with our target because we go t past the first hurdle very well,” he told reporters after the match. – BERNAMA
