KUALA LUMPUR – Members of parliament (MP) have been urged to show their wisdom when putting across their arguments and views in the Dewan Rakyat.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak said this was necessary since the arguments and views were geared toward drafting, defending and amending the laws of this country.
“Quality members of parliament put across their arguments calmly and factually while those of less quality lack facts and depend on heresay, which is full of assumptions,” he said in his blog today, entitled “Politicians Should Argue With Facts.”
Salleh said the members of parliament who lack quality would argue using weak information while some would speak in a screaming tone.
“Such a behaviour causes the house to become tense. In other countries, it can lead to a commotion and scenes such as the throwing of shoes and punch-ups.”
He hopes that the MPs could argue calmly so that the Dewan Rakyat is not seen as a fish market.
“Let us do it together despite having different views for the good of the people and the country.” – BERNAMA
