MELAKA – Melaka should take advantage of the various economic opportunities arising from its ties with Guangdong, China, to prosper the state’s economy, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
He said the state stood to benefit economically especially in the investment, trade and tourism sectors.
“Melaka should take advantage of this as 25 per cent of its trade was with Guangdong which over time will enhance the state’s economic development in various sectors.
“The Cabinet has approved this collaboration and will soon sign a memorandum of understanding,” Najib said after opening the Kota Melaka Umno Division delegates meeting here today.
The Prime Minister said with the increase in tourist arrivals to the statefrom Guangdong, the Melaka International Airport in Batu Berendam stood to flourish as an international airport.
“The airport has great potential to lure more tourists to the state,” he added. – BERNAMA
