MELAKA – The crime index in Melaka dropped 15.5 per cent to 3,096 cases last year as compared to 3,663 cases in 2016.
Melaka police chief Datuk Abdul Jalil Hassan said of that number, 841 cases were violent crimes while the rest were related to property crimes.
Speaking to reporters here today, he said of the total crime index recorded last year, 2,462 cases were reported in the Central Melaka district followed by Alor Gajah with 376 cases and Jasin (258).
He said 1,995 out of 3,096 cases last year were solved as compared to 2,167 from 3,663 cases in 2016. – BERNAMA
