MELAKA – The Melaka Government aims to provide 101 Panorama Melaka stage buses next year in its efforts to improve public transportation.
Melaka Transport and Project Rehabilitation Committee chairman Datuk Lim Ban Hong said at present, there were 61 buses provided by the bus company Panorama Melaka Sdn Bhd which was a subsidiary of the state government.
“We are now plying 35 routes which cover rural and urban areas, with 20 being social service routes where the company does not make any profit but the government bears the cost.
“We are still studying adding 40 more buses next year with as many routes as we can provide,” he told Bernama here.
The stage buses in Melaka, known as the Melaka Panorama bus, is unique to the state as public transportation is provided by the state government, following models in several European countries. – BERNAMA
