KUALA LUMPUR – The issue on the meeting between Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Nurul Izzah Anwar and Jacel H. Kiram, the daughter of a former Sulu terrorist leader, should be a lesson to all quarters that the country’s sovereignty could never be compromised.
Pensiangan Wanita Umno chief Zaitun Anik said the action by the Sabah State Assembly in prohibiting Nurul Izzah from entering the state was apt because her action had hurt the feeling of the Sabah people.
She said this when debating the motion on politic in the policy speech of the movement leader at its assembly here today.
Zaitun said the special motion passed by the Sabah State Assembly to ban Nurul Izzah from entering the state should be a reminder to all quarters that they should not take lightly matters pertaining to the country’s sovereignty and those that touched the sensitivities of the people in the country.
Nurul Izzah confirmed having met Jacel in the Philippines last Nov 9 together with Batu Member of Parliament Tian Chua.
Zaitun also expressed Sabah Wanita UMNO’s support for the leadership of UMNO president and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
She said decisions made by Najib were for the interests and prosperity of the people and the country.
As such, she called on all UMNO members to close rank and to work together to prevent a rift in the party.
Meanwhile, Mersing Wanita UMNO leader Alwiyah Talib said the transformation in UMNO should not be a cosmetic one.
“UMNO members should serve and move away from old-fashioned thinking,” she added.- BERNAMA
