KUALA TERENGGANU – Media practitioners in Terengganu should continue to assist the government in changing the mindset and paradigm of the people in the state.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman said the media had played an important role in educating the public to participate in the state’s development.
“Although information is easily accessible now, it is not the same as those provided by the mainstream media in terms of accuracy and reliability of sources.
“I hope the close cooperation between media practitioners and the state government will continue to be enhanced for the good of all quarters, especially the people in the state,” he added.
Ahmad Razif was speaking at the presentation of the Terengganu Press Club (Kawat)-ExxonMobil Journalism Award here last night, which was also attended by ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Malaysia Inc. vice-president and financial director Ernest Miller.
Also present were the Menteri Besar’s wife, Toh Puan Seri Halina Zakaria, Terengganu State Assembly Speaker Datuk Mohd Zubir Embong and Kawat president Ayob Mamat.
Ernest Miller, in his speech, said ExxonMobil would continue to support Kawat and that the award served as the best platform to ensure the people get quality news.
As a company which is concern with the welfare and education of the people in the state where we are operating, it serves as a channel for us to contribute,” he added.
The award recipients included two Bernama staff, Nur Fazlizai Ali and Arjasneh Ahmad . They both won second place in the category for Best Sports News Writing and Best Photograph, respectively.
They took home RM1,000 reach. – BERNAMA
