IPOH – The mechanical engineering graduate from Ungku Omar Polytechnic here, who suffered from fourth stage bone cancer, since last November passed away early Friday.
Abu Ammar Mustaqim Abu Bakar, 22, died at about 5 am while receiving treatment at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here.
As such his father Abu Bakar Ali, 52, urged members of the public to stop giving donations because his eldest son had died.
He said Abu Ammar was admitted to the hospital at 10 pm yesterday after his swollen left hand began to bleed and his face became pale.
“Before he passed away at 5 am, he looked very tired,” he said when contacted by Bernama here.
Abu Bakar said his son’s remains would be brought to Kampung Bukit Sungai Tong, Setiu in Terengganu for burial after funeral prayers at Masjid As-Syakirin, Kampung Tersusun Tasek here.
Abu Ammar’s suffering gained widespread media attention as he died less than 24 hours after Women and Family Development, Community Welfare, Housing and Local Government committee chairman Datuk Rusnah Kassim visited him at his family home at Anjung Bercham Elit yesterday.
Abu Bakar, who works as an assistant enforcement in the Road Transport Department, had also said he was worried of not being able to finance his son’s medical treatment.
Abu Ammar’s illness was first detected after he fell while playing futsal last April and a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) examination conducted by doctors at the Ipoh Pantai hospital confirmed he had a rare form of cancer. – BERNAMA
