PETALING JAYA: Mohd Ridhuan Tee Abdullah does not need to teach Malaysians how to dress, says Datuk Heng Seai Kie (pic).
“Malaysians don’t need Ridhuan Tee to ‘teach’ us what to do or how to dress,” said the Wanita MCA national chairman.
“It is already in our culture. We dress accordingly due to mutual respect towards other ethnic cultures and practices,” said Heng, who is also national unity & integration adviser in the Prime Minister’s Department, in a press release Monday.
Heng was responding to a piece written in a Malay daily by Ridhuan Tee titled “Kenapa suka buka-buka (why reveal?)” where he claimed that the MCA and non-Muslim community dressed indecently.
“Ridhuan’s allegations are baseless and just downright ridiculous. Even worse, his claims sink to new levels of malice as they aim to create hostility and suspicion among the different races while provoking hatred by Muslims against MCA,” said Heng.
She added that Malaysian Chinese dress appropriately when attending any Hari Raya open houses.
“His tarring of non-Muslim as ‘suka buka-buka (like to reveal)’ is a humiliation to non-Muslim women, racist and sexist. He must apologise to all Malaysian women.
“As a Malaysian-born Chinese who has lived in Malaysia all his life, it comes as a real shocker that Ridhuan Tee still cannot comprehend local traditions and respect and is totally ignorant about the goodwill practiced in multiracial Malaysia,” said Heng.
She added that it is clear that Ridhuan Tee continues to fail to comprehend or identify with the spirit and vision of MCA, despite having been a member for 16 years.
Ridhuan Tee was a member of MCA from 2000 until he quit the party in May this year.
