IPOH – The Perak Menteri Besar’s Retreat Programme organised by the state government is not a general election campaign guise, says Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir.
He said the claims of such made by the opposition on the programme were baseless as the programme had started four years ago.
“Can the government’s effort to delve into and solve problems faced by the people be equated to campaigning? Instead, it is a theory that portrays the sense of responsibility of the government chosen by the people.
“Whatever it is, I believe the people know how to evaluate and they are the real judge in this,” Zambry said in reply to a question from S. Kesavan (PKR-Hutan Melintang) at the state assembly sitting, here, today.
Kesavan wanted to know how far the programme had managed to solve problems faced by the people.
Zambry said the programme was to enable the government leaders to listen to the problems faced by the people in each of the areas involved, such as those related to land.
“Among the approaches taken by the government is to hold the state exco meeting in the area involved (where the retreat programme is held) to know the problems.”
He said this to a supplementary question from Datuk Mohd Khusairi Abdul Talib (BN-Slim) on the number of problems solved by the state government through the programme so far.- BERNAMA
