ALOR SETAR – Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah has described the death of renowned businesswoman Datuk Dr Maznah Hamid as a big loss to Kedah.
Ahmad Bashah, who is also Kedah UMNO liaison committee chairman, said her death was not only a loss to the state but also to the nation as she had contributed much to the world of business and politics.
“It is a very big loss to Kedah because she was a female icon who had been active in politics and business from a young age,” he said in a statement here today.
Ahmad Bashah said her name will continue to be an inspiration to all women to improve themselves.
“She will remain an ‘iron lady’ who is an inspiration to her friends, may her soul be placed among the righteous,” said Ahmad Bashah.
Maznah who was from Ayer Hitam near here, died at the age of 62 at the National Heart Institute in Kuala Lumpur at 6 pm yesterday following a heart operation on Sept 28 to fix issues with her heart valves.
Her husband Datuk Seri Shaheen Mirza Habib and family were by her side when she died.
She had previously held the post of Kedah Wanita UMNO head and chairman of the Wanita UMNO’s bureau of entrepreneurial development.
Maznah was buried at the Taman Raudhatul Sakinah Muslim cemetery, Taman Selasih in Kuala Lumpur after the Asar prayers today. – BERNAMA
