KUALA LUMPUR – Communications and Internet service provider, Maxis Bhd, today launched the MaxisONE Kid, a postpaid plan to help parents stay connected with their children using a customised smartwatch.
The postpaid plan, priced at RM58 per month, comes with a customised QQ smartwatch, MaxisONE Kid sim card, 500 megabytes, unlimited calls up to 10 numbers to any local network and voice messaging.
“This innovation is designed for kids aged four to 10 years old and parents who want to stay in touch with their kids no matter how far they are,” said Maxis Head of Postpaid Arjun Varma at the product launch here today.
Arjun said the watch came with built-in global positioning system that would help track and send the child’s real-time location and movement to ‘mwatch’, an app on the parent’s smartphones.
The app would also enable parents to manage their child’s contact list, configure alerts to be sent when the child enters safe and dangerous zone, send text messages, make calls and receive pictures taken from the watch.
On QQ Smartwatch as its partner for MaxisONE Kid, Head of Digital Service Adelle Gregory said it took Maxis almost a year to decide on which type of smartwatch to offer after conducting many tests on various types of timepieces in the market.
“My kids and I tested the app and the QQ watch for about two months and it provided the most accurate location reports plus good features and camera.
“However, there is still room for improvement and we welcome feedback from customers,” she said.
The MaxisONE Kid plan is open to all MaxisONE Plan customers for a one year contract. – BERNAMA
