KUALA LUMPUR – Maxis Bhd recorded an overall robust quarterly performance with the highest earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA), EBITDA margin (on service revenue) and profit after tax (PAT) in five years for the third quarter ended Sept 30, 2017.
In a statement today, Maxis said normalised EBITDA grew by 5.0 per cent, year-on-year (yoy), to RM1.20 billion from RM1.14 billion registered in the corresponding quarter of 2016, reflecting higher revenue and positive results from cost optimisation initiatives.
“EBITDA margin (on service revenue) was strong at 55.8 per cent against 54.1 per cent last year. Net profit rose 8.3 per cent to RM562 million compared with RM519 million on the back of higher EBITDA.
“Service revenue grew 2.0 per cent this quarter to RM2.15 billion compared with RM2.11 billion registered a year ago, supported by strong growth in postpaid. Postpaid delivered high yoy growth at 9.3 per cent with revenue of RM1.06 billion compared with RM965 million registered last year,” it said.
Chief Executive Officer Morten Lundal said: “Q3 2017 was a very strong quarter for Maxis, delivering the highest quarterly profits in five years. Record high demand for data and our high quality network created an all-time high customer satisfaction score”. – BERNAMA
