TUMPAT – Ustaz Mat Razi Mat Ail, former Tumpat assistant education officer, is the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Pengkalan Kubor state by-election on Sept 25.
Deputy Prime Minister and BN deputy chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin made the announcement in Tumpat, Wednesday.
He said the BN chose Mat Razi, 48, who is a member of the Tumpat UMNO Committee, as he was a local who had much experience and had been of service to the constituents.
“He is a local of Pengkalan Kubor and has a BA Hons degree specialising in Bahasa Melayu and History.
“Ustaz Mat Razi is also the founder of a pondok (religious school) in Tumpat and we feel he is close to the people,” Muhyiddin said when announcing the candidate before more than 5,000 people at the BN operations centre for the by-election. – Bernama
