PONTIAN – Three unemployed men were charged in the Magistrate’s Court here today with the murder of an enforcement officer of the Road Transport Department (RTD) here early last year.
They were Mohammad Khalifah Yahya, 24; Abdul Shukur Abdul Ghani, 26; and S.Ragu, 38, who nodded their head after the charge was read out to them before Magistrate Azlan Bohari, but no plea was recorded.
The court then ordered the case to be transferred to the Johor Bahru High Court and also fixed March 15 for mention for report on the victim’s post-mortem
The three men were charged with jointly murdering Jaiman Sapar, 53, at a house in Kampung Parit Pak Intan, Kayu Ara Pasong, Pontian, at abut 1 pm on Jan 27, 2017.
The charge, under Section 302 of the Penal Code, provides the death sentence, if found guilty.
Deputy public prosecutor Nur Baiduri Mustakim prosecuted, while the three accused were unrepresented.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Khalifah, known for his nickname “Mat Dugong”, also faced three other chargesfor house breaking and theft.
However, he pleaded not guilty and claimed trial to all three charges. – BERNAMA
