KELANA JAYA – Malaysian Airline System Bhd (MAS) has secured a clear mandate after a majority of its shareholders accepted the 27-sen per share offer, said Chairman, Tan Sri Md Nor Yusof.
“It’s a big relief. We, now have a clear mandate, particularly Khazanah Nasional Bhd,” he told reporters after the ompany’s extraordinary general meeting (EGM) here today.
The meeting which started at 10am ended around 4.15.
It would be an interesting time for the national airline going forward, he said, adding, the new business plan is being work out at this point.
Md Nor said the payout to the shareholders is expected to be completed by year-end.
Asked if he is confident of a better MAS for now on, he replied, “God willing.”
On whether, former Air Lingus CEO Christoph Mueller may be named the new MAS chief executive officer, he said there is nothing official at the moment.
What I can say is, we are looking globally in the search for the best talent,” he added.
A majority of MAS shareholders voted in favour of the resolution for the proposed selective capital reduction and repayment exercise at the EGM which ended at 4pm here today. – Bernama
