BANGKOK – A married couple was found shot dead early today, at the Mukim Kota Teras in the turbulent Yala region of southern Thailand.
Ma-il Leemada-i and wife, Bidoh Leemada-i, both 60, had sustained gunshot wounds fired at close range.
The bodies were near the couple’s motorcycle at a rubber smallholding in Kampung Batas Tinggi, Raman district.
A police spokesman, Captain Chamnont Keawpimpl said the incident was believed to have occurred about 5am.
“They were fired upon at close range,” he told the media at the scene of the murder,” he said.
He said witnesses claimed to have seen the couple heading towards the rubber smallholding before gunshots rang out.
Chamnont said the police were in the midst of determining whether the attack motivated by personal vendetta or the armed turbulence in southern Thailand.
The armed conflict between separatists and the Thai security forces in the nation’s Muslim-majority south had left thousands of people killed.- BERNAMA
