In the entertainment realm, television personality Marion Rose Caunter needs little introduction. She has made her name in the glamorous world of television;from producing and hosting local television segments to landing gigs on E!News Asia and The Biggest Loser Asia 2.
Off-screen, fans and detractors have kept up with her life from her high profile marriage to young corporate heir, the Naza Group’s joint group executive chairman SM Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin, and their family life.
But all is not peaches and cream for the hair salon entrepreneur, as one of her Instagram post that showed her clasping her hands in the traditional Christian prayer gesture, has invited more jeers than cheers from netizens.
Understandably, Marion’s action did no justice in personifying herself as a Muslim convert.
However, like a swarm of soldier bees protecting their precious queen, Marion’s fans struck back, claiming that she is merely praying her friend’s birthday wishes come true and it did not reflect her religious beliefs.
One anonymous user said,”Chill! Stop judging. No one is perfect. She’s a convert. Innocent like a newborn. I believe she’s slowly learning everything.”
Another follower said, the 33-year-old former Clarins spokesmodel should mind her status as a Muslim. “She has converted for quite some time…this is a simple thing that she shouldn’t have done..I love her but this is wrong..”.
No comment so far from the mother-of-two’s camp, but rest assured, Marion should be a little bit more cautious of what she posts online and not to disregard Malaysians’ cultural sensitivity.MYNEWSHUB
