Celebrities have hawked at products for as long as we can remember– from perfumes, sporting equipments, clothing and now, confectionery.
Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova touched down Singapore for the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Finals, but little did everyone know, her recent trip was not all about the sport.
The world No. 2 launched her own line of candy, Sugarpova, at Robinsons The Heeren on Wednesday evening.
Part of the proceeds go to The Maria Sharapova Foundation “for helping children across the world achieve their dreams”.
Sugarpova boasts an extensive range, but the sour ones are gaining most popularity.
According to a review in The Straits Times, the chewy,lips-puckering candies has three variations: the Quirky, Sassy and Flirty.
Quirky has a rainbow-coloured layer of sour candy and a marshmallow core.
Sassy is filled with fruit- shaped gummy candies. As reported by the Singaporean daily, the watermelon and lemon ones are especially good, and the banana ones do not taste too fake.
Flirty Sours have lip-, star- and heart-shaped candies with berry and citrus flavours. They are the most sour of the lot and the best of the three, wrote the review.
Malaysian fans who want to get their hands on the candies will just have to make an extra effort, as Sugarpova is not yet available on our shores, but some things are just worth the wait.MYNEWSHUB/Text: Sara Khalid
