Mara Assists Bumiputera Entrepreneurs To Seize Opportunities In High-Impact Projects

KANGAR – Mara will assist Bumiputera entrepreneurs in Perlis to seize economic opportunities from high-impact projects under the Eleventh Malaysia Plan through development projects planned by the state government.

Mara deputy director-general (Entrepreneurship) Zulfikri Osman said the agency was monitoring progress of development projects in the Chuping Valley Industrial Area (CVIA) , particularly as a logistic hub, apart from Bandar Kangar and Kuala Perlis.

“In this matter, Mara will continue to cooperate with and support the state government. Now, we are identifying entrepreneurs with potential to be given training and aid to expand their respective businesses,” he told Bernama here last night.

He was met after the breaking of fast and tarawih prayer with the Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail and government departments in the state.

The event was also attended by Raja Perempuan Perlis Tuanku Tengku Fauziah Tengku Abdul Rashid, Raja Muda Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail and Raja Puan Muda Perlis Tuanku Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man, State Assembly Speaker Datuk Hamdan Bahari and the state executive council members were also present.

Zulfikri said Mara provided a complete ecosystem for entrepreneurial development which included various financial aid as well as training for those keen to become entrepreneurs, as well as those already in the field.

At the event, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin handed over aid under the “Mudah Jaya” financing scheme and the Mara Express Contract scheme, totalling more than RM700,000 , to five entrepreneurs in Perlis, while Tuanku Tengku Fauziah handed over offer letters to study at the Arau Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) to six “asnaf” (persons eligible to receive tithe) and Ramadan contributions for the poor.

According to Zulfikri, the Arau MRSM would begin operation in July with its first batch of 150 Form One students and 150 Form Three students.

It is the second MRSM in Perlis, after the Beseri MRSM in Kangar. – BERNAMA
