GEORGE TOWN: A man who was jailed five years for raping a 13-year-old girl had his sentence enhanced to 10 years and one stoke of the rotan, reports the New Straits Times.
High Court Judicial Commissioner Datuk Azmi Ariffin ordered Mohd Hazri Abdul Ghafor Mohd Hazri Abdul Ghafor, now 30, to serve his new jail term from Wednesday.
Hazri had on March 11 last year pleaded guilty to raping the girl at a flat in Kampung Melayu, Air Itam near here, on a day between March and May 2009.
The girl subsequently had a son which DNA evidence confirmed was his.
In his judgment, Azmi said the appeal records showed that the girl had since admitted herself into a girls’ home and was caring for her child.
He said the act brought embarrassment to the girl and her family, and Hazri should know that rape was condemned by Islam and for that matter by all religions.MYNEWSHUB
