in Latest/Sports

WITH the summer transfer window nearly upon us, rumours are picking up steam. As always, Transfer Talk has its finger on the pulse when it comes to the latest gossip. See the latest deals here.

Jose Mourinho has turned his attention to signing Paul Pogba for Manchester United, according to French publication L’Equipe, after all but finalising a deal to bring Zlatan Ibrahimovic to the Premier League.

Juventus are unwilling to part company with the 23-year-old midfielder for anything less than €100 million, and Man United’s lack of Champions League football could present a problem. However, the French outlet reports that Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, is set on engineering a return to Old Trafford. In addition to representing Pogba, Raiola is the agent of Ibrahimovic and another United target, Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Mourinho reportedly plans to field a 4-3-3 formation that will see Wayne Rooney line up alongside Pogba in midfield with Ibrahimovic, Anthony Martial and Mkhitaryan in attack.

Could Costa return to the Calderon?
Diego Simeone has made signing a new striker for Atletico Madrid his top priority, and he wants to bring Diego Costa back to the Vicente Calderon, the Mirror reported.

Atletico Madrid are reportedly eager to see Diego Costa return to the club after spending the past two years with Chelsea.

The report suggested that Chelsea striker Costa is keen to return to his former club two years after moving to the Premier League. The impending arrival of Michy Batshuayi from Marseille coupled with the Blues’ interest in Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata makes a deal likely.

Costa is Atletico’s top target, but should a move fail to materialise, Gonzalo Higuain of Napoli and Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are also options for the beaten Champions League finalists.

Palace to pay big for Benteke
Christian Benteke is ready to quit Liverpool and join Crystal Palace following Sadio Mane’s arrival at Anfield, according to the Mirror.

The Belgium international joined Liverpool for £32.5 million last summer but struggled for regular playing time following the appointment of Jurgen Klopp in October. Mane’s signing will only further restrict his chances of action.

Benteke reportedly earns £140,000 per week, and Liverpool want to recoup £30 million for the 25-year-old. Ass the joint third-lowest scorers in the Premier League last season, Palace are ready to commit the necessary funds to solve their problems in front of goal.

Klinsmann interested in England job?
With Roy Hodgson walking away from his role as England manager following the Three Lions’ exit at Euro 2016, the FA have a vacancy to fill. Speculation has swirled the past week about England’s interest in U.S. manager Jurgen Klinsmann, and the Sun reported that the German would be interested in the job.

ESPN FC’s Shaka Hislop breaks down the potential of Jurgen Klinsmann taking over as manager of England.
Klinsmann has two years remaining on his contract as U.S. manager and technical director, but the English tabloid reported that an offer from the FA might prove too good to refuse. He will, however, wait to be approached by England, rather than making the first move.

On Wednesday, a flurry of betting activity forced UK bookmakers to shorten the odds on Klinsmann’s being appointed England manager from as high as 33/1 down to 9/2.
