KINABATANGAN- A plantation worker was detained for raping a student at the Genting Teneggang plantation near Jerocco here.
The teenage worker turned himself in at the Kinabatangan police station yesterday at about 10am after the victim lodged a police report on Tuesday.
The rape incidents occured on May 5 and the recent one was last Saturday.
At about 9pm on May 5, the 13-year-old victim was at her uncle’s house and was approached by the suspect.
“She was pushing a motorcycle into the house at the time and the man took the student into her room (at the uncle’s house).
“The victim had tried to fight him but she was raped.
“The man had also promised to marry her after the raping incident,” a source said, adding that other family members were already asleep at that time.
A week later, at about 9pm, the man brought the victim to a plantation area behind the same house and raped her for the second time.
This time, the family members found them during the incident but the man fled from the scene.
A police report was lodged by the family after the man’s relatives refused to take responsibility.
District police chief Superintendent A. Sahak Rahmat confirmed the incident and said the case is being investigated under Section 376 of Penal Code for rape.- New Straits Times
