MOSCOW – A man suspected of killing a special police officer in a shooting incident in Kazan has committed suicide during the operation to arrest him, the Russian Interior Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
The shooting incident which happened on Tuesday night was caused by a domestic conflict between the shooter, his wife and her brother, China’s Xinhua news agency reported.
According to a preliminary report, the 37 year-old shooter was drunk.
Earlier, the shooter was arrested for ten days for disorderly conduct. After being released, the man took a gun and went to confront his wife and her brother, who was providing shelter for the woman.
In an exchange of gunfire, three people were injured, including two policemen. One of the injured policemen died in an ambulance.
A criminal investigation has been launched into the case. -BERNAMA
