KOTA KINABALU: A man here was shot dead by a person he had an argument with earlier in the day.

The incident, police said, occurred last Saturday in Nabawan, which is some 180km from the state capital.

Keningau district police chief Deputy Superintendent Douglas Nyeging Taong said initial investigations found that the victim, Peridan Rawang, had earlier in the day scolded the suspect for having asked Peridan’s son to buy some instant noodles.

He said Peridan had scolded the man while flashing a sword at him.

“It is believed that the suspect later took a homemade gun and shot Peridan,” DSP Douglas said in a statement on Monday.

He said Peridan died due to the wounds in his chest.

The suspect has been remanded to facilitate investigations.
