BUTTERWORTH – A man was brutally assaulted by a group of teenage boys armed with sticks and iron rods at a restaurant in Jalan Raja Uda on Wednesday.
Seberang Perai Utara district police chief, ACP Noorzainy Mohd Noor said in the 1.45am incident, the 45-year-old who was having a drink at the restaurant was attacked by 10 teenagers.
“The victim claimed he did not know the assailants and managed to inform his mother of the incident before he was sent to Seberang Jaya Hospital for treatment,” he said here today.
Following the incident, an 18-year-old was detained in Mak Mandin around 12.30am today and is being remanded for seven days from today to facilitate the investigation. The identity of two accomplices have been identified while police are tracing the other seven suspects.
Meanwhile, a 43-year-old man was detained around 3.40pm, here, yesterday for frequently hurling packages filled with his faeces and urine at the parked cars of residents along Jalan Tunku Putra, Telok Air Tawar.
In a separate incident, Noorzainy urged members of the public with information on a golden Toyota Unser that went against traffic flow on the Butterworth Outer Ring Road around 3.30am today to come forward and assist in the investigation. – BERNAMA
