KOTA KINABALU – A 31-year-old man in Sabah’s Kuala Penyu district beat up a man after thinking that he was a police informer, said Beaufort police chief Deputy Supt Azmir Abd Razak.
He said the victim – Yusri Jamari – was heading to a nearby beach to get sand for work when the suspect accused him of being a police informer.
“As Yusri was getting sand, a man approached him and started beating him with a metal chain,” said DSP Azmir.
He said that Yusri immediately ran to his car and drove off when he saw two men approaching him, adding that one of the men was seen holding a screwdriver.
DSP Azmir added that Yusri lodged a police report before heading to the hospital where he was treated for injuries on his head and said that the suspect was arrested soon after.
“We believe the suspect is a drug dealer but investigations are still ongoing,” DSP Azmir said. – The Star Online
