KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia’s Under-13 football squad (U-13) which comes under the National Football Development Programme (FDP) created history after after winning the Youth Soccer Tournament Iber Costa del Sol 2015 Cup (Ibercup) in Spain, yesterday.
The team coached by former Malaysian soccer great Lim Teong Kim had not set any targets for the prestigious tournament by Sporting Lisbon’s Under-13 team 2-1 in the final at the Munoz Perez Sports Complex in Marbella, Spain.
Luqman Hakim Samsudin and Hariz Mohd Mansor were on target for Malaysia in the 12th and 48th minutes respectively.
The squad turned out 17 victories out of 19 matches played in their European tour which started on May 28. The other two matches had ended up in draws.
The squad will play in the Portuuese Under-13 tournament in Estoril, Portugal from June 30 to July 5 next before returning home.
Meanwhile, Minister of Youth and Sports Khairy Jamaluddin through his Twitter account congratulated the team for their outstanding achievement.
He also called up Teong Kim to congratulate him and the squad made up players from the Mokhtar Dahari National Football Academy based in Kuantan, Pahang.
