KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia debuted its first creative industry digital app, ‘Kr8tif Express’, at the International Market of Communications Programmes (MIPCOM) 2015 in Cannes, France, on Tuesday.
The app was introduced jointly by the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia and National Film Development Corporation (Finas).
In a statement today, Finas said the multi-platform digital app is an initiative to bring the latest information on feature film, television, animation, games, music, licensing and publishing as well as industry insights to both local and international players.
“Furthermore, the app is dedicated to track the growth of the Malaysian creative industry, allows the country to stay competitive on a global scale, and keep the stakeholders up-to-date on Malaysia’s achievements.
“The app will also update readers daily on Malaysian creative news, insightful creative subjects, new grants, deals and co-production agreements,” it said.
The corporation said the app also featured around-the-clock coverage during international and local creative festivals and events, native integration for social media sharing, exclusive interviews with key players, important figures and personalities in the business.
It said the app also showcased a dedicated industry vacancy section to help fresh graduates and local talents find a job in local and international creative companies.
Kr8tif Express is free to download on Apple App Store and Android Google Play. It is also available via website and linked to various social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Linkedln, YouTube and Twitter.
The statement cited Communications and Multimedia Deputy Minister Datuk Jailani Johari as saying that the digital app allowed Malaysia to stay competitive and keep stakeholders abreast on industry news and achievements.
At the event, Jailani witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between Malaysia’s award-winning animation studio, Lil’ Critter Workshop and South Korea’s top animation studio, Grafizix Co. Ltd to co-produce “FrienZoo”, a 2D cut-out animation comedy.
Finas said through the agreement, Lil’ Critter would provide co-production, animation production and compositing for Grafizix’s 78 FrienZoo episodes which would be aired on South Korea’s Education Broadcasting System (EBS) in late 2016.
