PUTRAJAYA – Malaysia’s success today would not have been achieved without its excellent civil service that is the best in the world, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan.
He said, although he had travelled to many countries that had gained independence at about the same time as Malaysia, none could emulate the development enjoyed by Malaysia.
“Our country is surrounded by conflicts occurring in other countries … but, Malaysia has survived and is probably ahead of the pack due to its top civil service. Politicians like me may come and go…but our country is effective due to its civil service that performs unbelievable tasks,” Abdul Rahman said this in his speech during an appreciation ceremony for Economic Planning Unit (EPU) Director-General Datuk Seri Dr Rahamat Bivi Yusoff whose service ended today.
Rahamat Bivi will be replaced by EPU deputy director-general (Policy) Datuk Nik Azman Nik Abdul Majid, effective on Wednesday (June 7).
Rahamat Bivi in his speech thanked the government for entrusting him to lead EPU since Oct 19, 2011. – BERNAMA
