SEMPORNA – The Royal Malaysia Police is taking its initiative to go green further afield with plans to introduce the solar hybrid electricity supply system in more police posts in Sabah.
An allocation of RM1.5 million has been set aside for the purpose, said Internal Security and Public Order director Datuk Seri Zulkifli Abdullah.
He said the system, implemented in the Pulau Mabul police post in 2015, had also saved the force RM570,000 annually that would have been spent on diesel fuel.
The force would collaborate with Telekom Malaysia Bhd to expand the system to several other police posts, including turtle conservation island Pulau Selingan in Sandakan where a General Operations Force (GOF) team is located, he said.
Zulkifli spoke to Bernama during a day-long visit to the police posts in Pulau Mabul, Bohey Dulang, Kapalai and Singamata near here yesterday to check on the police set-up to maintain security in Sabah waters.
