KUALA LUMPUR – Who says a fantasy dream such as aiming to be the most famous magician in the world is an unreasonable goal or just a fairy tale.

Kabir Khan Mohamad Reaz begs to differ and believes dreams can be achieved through hard work and determination.

From mystifying the rich and famous in Hollywood to performing before the royals of Dubai, Malaysian renowned magician, Kabir, 30, has an impressive track record around the globe.

The Penang-born magician told Bernama that he chose to be in the field after being mesmerized by the performances of famed magician David Copperfield in a television program which he saw when he was six years old.

Kabir said this had sparked his interest to pursue his interest and got himself admitted to the Academy of Magical Arts, Magic Castle in the United States.

He is also a graduate in Manual Dexterity and Prestidigitation from the Chaves Studio of Magic in Los Angeles and McBride School of Magic and Mystery in Las Vegas.

These qualifications made him one of the very few certified magicians in the world.

He also attributed his interest in the arts of magic to a book, The Success Principles, written by Jack Canfield.

“It is all about the right techniques and how you, yourself, hold on to your dreams to make it a reality.

“Of course people laughed when I said I want to be a magician, but with determination and guidance from my family and everyone, I am able to stand where I am now,” he said.

His life struggle to become a renowned magician of international standing had been featured in the 2015 New York Times best-selling book, ‘The Success Principles 10th Anniversary Edition’, which was written by Canfield himself.

Once again, Kabir had brought honour to Malaysia and raised the country’s flag internationally.

Kabir also made a name in the Malaysia Book of Records in 2013 for being the first Malaysian magician to be invited to perform in Hollywood and London.

Later that year, he was conferred the Brand Laureate Grand Master Leadership Award and won second runner-up at the Academy of Magical Arts Summer 2014 Magic Castle’s Strolling Magic Showdown in Hollywood.

Witnessing his growing reputation as a performer, one of the foremost Magic and Performing Arts institutions, the McBride Magic and Mystery School in Las Vegas, has recognised him as one of the new top magicians in the world.

“I vow to continue to place Malaysia on the world map and to assist our young Malaysians who want to be world-beaters. I do hope my story inspires others to achieve greatness in any given field,” he said. – BERNAMA
