SHAH ALAM – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today announced that Malaysia would host the biennial EurAsia Cup golf tournament in 2018.
“Asian players deserve another shot. The competition will be back in two years.
“The competition is well received by local fans and with extensive coverage, it has gained recognition,” said Najib at the Glenmarie Golf and Country Club here, the venue of the tournament’s 2016 edition.
He also congratulated Team Europe for winning the competition.
Team Europe won this year’s Ryder Cup-style event with 18 and a half points, against Team Asia’s five and a half points.
The three-day event, sanctioned by The European Tour and Asian Tour and presented by DRB-HICOM, pitted 12 of the finest golfers from Europe against a 12-man team from Asia. – BERNAMA
