Malaysia Ready To Be Hub For A400M Aircraft Maintenance

in Latest

KUBANG PASU – Malaysia is prepared to be the hub for maintenance of A400M aircraft in Southeast Asia, said Deputy Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Johari Baharum.

He said this was possible with Malaysia being the first country in Asia to buy the aircraft from its manufacturer, Airbus, which is based in France.

“We have the necessary infrastructure, for example, we have two large hangars in the region and I was informed by Airbus, there is no other country with a hangar like Malaysia,” he told reporters here today.

He was responding to a statement by Airbus president for Asia Pacific, Pierre Jaffre, who said that Airbus was considering the proposal to make Malaysia a hub for maintenance of the A400M aircraft series.

The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) has ordered four Airbus A400 military transport aircraft, which is the world’s most versatile and technology advanced airlifter, with the last aircraft delivered early last month.

Besides Malaysia, other countries which have the A400M aircraft are France, Germany, Turkey and the United Kingdom.

Mohd Johari was met by reporters after visiting residents who were affected by a storm which hit residents in Kampung Gelong Rambai, Mukim Jeram, Tunjang, yesterday.

During the visit, he presented cash aid to seven families whose houses were damaged in the storm. – BERNAMA
