ALOR SETAR – Kedah stand a good chance of making the final of this season’s Malaysia Cup after defeating Pahang 3-1 in their first leg semifinal match at the Darul Aman Stadium here Sunday night.
Kedah scored as early as the eighth minute when their import striker Namkung Woong fired a pile driver into the Pahang goal from a one-two with Mohd Rizal Ghazali.
The Elephants let in the second in the 48th minute when Badrol Bakhtiar’s cross was nodded in by Mohd Farhan Roslan.
Pahang got their consolation goal in the 90th minute when Matias Conti converted a free kick but Khyril Muhymeen Zambri sealed their fate when he netted the Canaries’ third goal in injury time before referee Syed Azhar Syed Kamar blew the final whistle.
The return leg match will be played at the Darul Makmur Stadium in Kuantan this Friday.
