Malaysia Cup: Kedah’s Unbeaten Record Comes To A Halt

in Latest/Sports

ALOR SETAR – Premier League champions Kedah’s unbeaten run in the Malaysia Cup came to a halt when they lost 2-3 to Johor Darul Ta’zim II (JDT II) on their own turf the Darul Aman Stadium here Tuesday night.

However, the defeat did not affect their second spot in Group A. Both Kedah and JDT II have secured four points each after three matches but the Red Eagles have a superior goal difference.

On Tuesday night’s action before a crowd of 25,000 supporters, JDT II striker Zaquan Adha Abdul Radzak emerged the hero for the visitors when he slotted home the winning goal from a pass supplied by team captain Mohd Shahril Ishak in the 78 minute.

Earlier, Mohd Shahril and defender Baihakki Khaizan had scored for the southerners in the 14th and 45th minutes while Sandro Da Silva and Chidi Edeh were on the mark for Kedah in the 37th and 54th minutes respectively.

Kedah next play Singapore side Lions XII at the same venue on Friday while JDT II host Terengganu at the Pasir Gudang Stadium on Saturday.
